The Selection Process at YUVIKA
The selection process for participants in YUVIKA-2024 is meticulously designed, considering various parameters to ensure a fair and comprehensive evaluation. A significant portion, 50%, is allocated to the marks obtained in the Class 8 examination, reflecting academic achievement. Performance in an online quiz holds a weightage of 10%, assessing participants’ general knowledge and aptitude.
Additionally, the selection criteria extend beyond academics to encompass extracurricular accomplishments. Participation in science fairs, Olympiads, sports competitions, and memberships in organizations like Scout and Guides/NCC/NSS are all taken into account, each contributing a percentage to the overall evaluation.
Moreover, students studying in Village/Rural Schools located in Panchayat areas receive special consideration, with a weightage of 15%, acknowledging the diversity of educational backgrounds.
To ensure representation from every state and union territory, a minimum participation threshold is set, reflecting the program’s inclusive approach. The program is set to take place across seven centers of ISRO, strategically located across the country, providing accessibility to aspiring participants nationwide.
Logistical support is provided to selected students, covering travel expenses from their hometown to the reporting center and back. The course material, lodging, and boarding expenses throughout the program duration are fully sponsored by ISRO, alleviating any financial burden on the participants.
Eligibility is open to students currently studying in Class 9 as of January 1, 2024, within India, broadening the scope of potential applicants and fostering a diverse cohort of participants.
